18 Exercises (Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa) Qian Shi Ba Fa (First Set) Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa or Lian Gong 18 Form (練功十八法) is a comprehensive Chinese system of exercises to improve general physical health. Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa was developed over many years by Dr. Zhuang Yuan Ming, and the Shanghai Institute of Physical Education. They contain certain elements of ancient Daoyin technique, and are compiled for the common chronic diseases of the neck, shoulders, waist, and legs. This exercise is easy to learn, highly targeted, and quick to work. It is very popular among middle-aged and elderly people in China and has extendend all over the world. All exercises are divided into 3 sets, and each set has 3 groups of 6 movements each, hence 18 exercises. The first set of 18 movements are presented in this video. The first set is for preventing and treating neck and shoulder pain, which consists of exercises of the head and upper limbs. Through these, the flexibility of the neck, shoulders, elbows and finger joints can be enhanced, the adhesion and spasm of soft tissues such as muscles can be relaxed, blood circulation can be improved, and muscle strength can be enhanced, thereby improving the mobility of the above joints.
