Atomic Rooster 1

Atomic Rooster was a British rock band originally formed by organist Vincent Crane and drummer Carl Palmer after Arthur Brown, of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, suddenly disappeared in the midst of their second U.S. tour. They recruited Nick Graham on bass and vocals, and John Cann for guitar duties - after which Nick left, so John took over vocal duties while the bass lines were overdubbed on Crane's Hammond organ. Their debut album was entitled Atomic Rooooster. At the end of June 1970, Carl Palmer announced his departure to join Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Ric Parnell filled the drum spot until August, when Paul Hammond was recruited from Farm. They then recorded their second album, Death Walks Behind You, released in September 1970. This is a compilation of my favorite tracks from those albums, with a couple bonus cuts added. The effects of Vince's inimical experiences in the mental institution can be sensed in the angst of some of his music, and is especially highlighted in Barnstead. Sadly, he ended up committing suicide, and the world lost another creative genius.
