Mazda CX5 DIY diesel 2.2 mk1 fuel filter replacement without removing fuel lines correct priming procedure currently (2023) none of the procedures for replacing the fuel filter are correct it is suggested to be ridiculous to pre-fill a diesel fuel filter: tiny dirt particles will cause premature wear to injectors; likewise prefilling fuel lines. use a £10 fleabay vacuum pump or a £13 fleabay 12v oil transfer pump for priming. using the laser tool version (no better than the flea bay version). Persist: it took 15 draws of diesel in the inadequate 100ml vessel (1/3 gallon) with much air bubbles appearing until the end. More confidence with an electric pump. there is no priming bulb on the later filter housings. use decent fuel filter: Mazda, MAHLE, Mann. lubricate o rings with diesel. there is no need to remove the fuel lines, there is plenty of access for an oil filter wrench. mark the drain sensor & filter before removing to match tightening torque.
