Outside the walls, enormous sinkholes have opened along coastlines across the world. No one knows what caused them. Some believe pollution poisoned the oceans. Others believe decades of drilling and resource extraction awakened something beneath the seabed. From these black coastal abysses, terrifying creatures emerged and destroyed entire cities. Police forces were overwhelmed. Military firing lines collapsed. The remaining survivors now live behind walls, hunted every day by Bonehounds, Veilstalkers and other creatures born from the deep.
