The production of prototypes for the needs of testing at the Technical and Experimental Center of the Land Army was entrusted to «Zastava» from Kragujevac. Today, it is difficult to say whether the decision to copy UZI's solution for a new machine gun in FR Yugoslavia was influenced, because this was also done by neighboring Croatia, which acquired a license from Israel in 1992 and in the Zagreb company «Arma-Grupa». began serial production of weapons under the name «ERO». Somewhat later, the production of a reduced variant, the so-called «Mini ERO». The domestic machine worked on a free recoil shutter. Firing was done from the closed position of the shutter (bullet in the barrel, shutter in the front position, firing mechanism engaged), which increased accuracy and safety during use and handling. Both models are equipped with the optional installation of a 9mm P-9 M97 silencer and an OCL-9 laser target marker.
