Allegro Barbaro by Bela Bartok Alberto Villaescusa piano Recorded at the Alborada Clásica International Festival Allegro barbaro was composed in 1911, but its first public performance did not take place until 1921. According to Maurice Hinson, the editor, Bartók premiered the piece in February 1913 in Kecskemet, Hungary. Much like several of Bartók's works, Allegro barbaro exists in various editions. Bartók played the piece privately from memory multiple times before formally notating the music. Early printed versions often indicated slower tempos, causing confusion among musicians, as Bartók's own recordings featured a significantly faster pace. Moreover, certain accents and dynamics, performed by the composer, were not consistently documented. The 1918 Vienna publications have since become the standard and final edition of the composition. Allegro barbaro is a popular choice for students to orchestrate, particularly in their college studies. More information in Wikipedia:
