Felt like going ahead and getting this done. Part 2 will come at a later date when I get more crossings recorded along this line. The CSX S&NA South Subdivision runs from Birmingham, AL to Montgomery, AL though the north end of the line itself is technically at where the CSX S&NA South and Lineville Subdivisions split, as from there to the north is the CSX Birmingham Terminal. The line itself is rather slow and unpredictable, as the majority of the traffic comes from the coal trains that run along it, though there&also the occasional ethanol and grain trains, along with at least one daily mixed freight in each direction between Birmingham and Montgomery, as well as some locals that operate out of the Calera, AL yard. It appears that after the SCL and L&N merged, most of the traffic started to get sent down the present-day CSX Lineville Sub instead, especially under CSX, as that line is much busier most days than this line is. Don&expect to see more than 5 trains during daylight hours along this line, and even then, 5 trains would kinda be pushing it. The line also splits into two while going through Alabaster, AL with southbound trains taking the western train (Main 1) and northbound trains taking the eastern track (Main 2). CR 52 was being tested at the time of recording, which is why no trains went through while I was recording it. However, as a result of how un-busy the line is, it still retains a lot of older crossing signals, especially when compared to other CSX...
