In 480 BC, Persian king Xerxes leads a vast army toward Greece, demanding submission from cities accustomed to defending their freedom with weapons in hand. King Leonidas of Sparta refuses to bow to foreign power, but political restrictions and the caution of the elders prevent him from marching with the full army, so he goes to Thermopylae with only three hundred of his finest warriors. The narrow pass becomes the site of desperate resistance, where discipline, fury, and belief in duty clash with the Persians’ overwhelming numbers. While Leonidas leads the Spartans into battle, Queen Gorgo tries to secure support at home, understanding that her husband’s sacrifice may become the spark for all of Greece.
