The Hedgehog in a Hole - Stopmotion cartoon (2025)

I would like to show the sins and vices of man through images and metaphors of forest animals and through some abstraction. I was inspired by Russian folklore, fairy-tales, Bible and works by David Lynch. After the birth of an idea I searched and read materials on this topic. When I started to create characters I had some problems with visual decisions. My key character is the punk hedgehog, who should be kind and freedom-loving. I sculpted it over and over again until I got the result I needed. While I was trying to make an ideal appearance for characters I was distracted by my brothers and sisters. They asked me to help them with homework. In addition to characters, I need a background and scenery. I took the rectangular piece of foam from the trash for the decorations and the stage. I washed it and dried it in the sun. After that, I coated the surface of the foam with a special powder that imitated the ground. I mixed this powder with water and covered it layer by layer. Then I dipped the brush into the glue and sprinkled the special material that imitates grass on the foam. It was an unusual experience for me but really interesting. Some stages required non-standard solutions. For example, I needed to get the camera to shoot a view from above. However, I didn&have any special equipment for this. I thought of connecting the rather tall cylindrical bottle for shampoo (it was empty and I filled it with water for weight) with a big piece of plasticine and my phone. In the...
