Since I first heard 'Second Life Syndrome', back in 2005, Riverside has been one of my favourite bands ever, in the top three of my favourite european prog bands. I still consider 'Anno Domini High Definition' one of the best albums ever to grace the genre, and the best out of the polish band's catalogue. However, for some reason, I never really got into Lunatic Soul. Despite of considering Mariusz Duda as one of the best voices of the genre, and a truly gifted musician and songwriter, his side solo project didn't truly get hold of me with his first two albums. Maybe Duda's proposal there was too atmospheric for what I was digging at the time; I had just discovered Rival Sons' «Pressure And Time», and I was into a pretty serious fever for more simple and straightforward, rocking sounds. So, I didn't pay attention to the successive albums released under the Lunatic Soul banner. But, as you know, life has its ways, and last year witnessed the release of Lunatic Soul's last album to date, 'Through Shaded Woods' and the utterly beautiful song 'The Fountain' included in it caught my ears. So, having in mind that we were going through the second, third... whatever lockdown, I had spare time in spades and I decided to give a second chance to Duda's solo work.
