ОМСК A while ago, I started teaching English to the leader of a punk rock band in Moscow and so willy-nilly started learning more about this genre that has an astonishing variety. And being in Omsk, of course, I eventually needed to learn more about Igor Letov, called the 'father of Russian punk rock.' Of course, Omsk is an ideal place for this type of genre of punk rock. Blue-collar worker, typical Krushevka flat, and Igor did a lot more as he imbibed the core punk rock creed that is so often ignored by the successful, and that is to stay close to the roots and eschew big-name fame.What strikes me from listening is the raw talent, lyrics with impact, and, most important, authenticity. And here Omsk helped quite a bit. It would not be possible, I would guess, for Igor to be living in a luxury flat in Moscow and produce the same music. I remember a blogger I was watching from Chelyabinsk, and he then decided to move to St. Petersburg and stroll the streets with girlfriends, but his message got lost, and he looked completely generic.Igor Letov's only property seems to have been this flat in Omsk too. Punk rock in its purest form is to shake us up and wake us up and give us a message. It is not a love ballad or sentimentalism. Letov did something with this genre that was, in my opinion, incredibly artistic. His voice is clear, and his lyrics are often images, thought patterns, and, above all, authentic.
