MERCEDES VARIO DIY CAMPER | Rear Electrics | How to build Over Cab Storage & Headliner Shelf | EP26

We need more storage!! So the best place to find it in a high top Vario is above the cab. We removed a headliner when we bought the van, and this week we retrofit a new storage shelf over the cab. We also start tackling the van electrics as the rear wiring loom was savaged when we bought the van so we need to rewire it and add in some extras! We have to install rear lighting clusters (Tail, Brake, Reverse and Indicator Lights), low level fog lights, more amber strobes for when we are working on event sites and wiring for our towing socket! We also need to add a reversing beeper and reversing camera into our reversing circuit and resistors into our indicator circuit as the LED lighting clusters make our flasher relay go crazy! All of this will be wired into existing 24V electrical circuits and some new circuits with additional switches in the cab. These switches as well as our radio and speakers will be installed into the underside of our headliner shelf which we also need to install into the van. We are going to cover it with some 4-way stretch carpet for some added noise deadening and cozy aesthetics. After this week it feels like we are well on our way to making our very own tiny house on wheels with our Vario Van Conversion! Getting the electrics correct is going to be such an achievement!
