William Gillock: 'Holiday in Spain' for piano

This appears to be a companion piece to &in Paris&(which is also on this channel) and I found them together in &Century American Composers: Intermediate Level Piano&(Schirmer). It was originally published in 1961. William Gillock has a way of taking familiar materials and refashioning them into striking, melodically captivating pieces. Here we have the sounds of flamenco - the castanets, the guitar - reshaped completely convincingly for the piano.
