You can glue your floor down, you can nail it, or you can just float it. And today we are floating both of our laminate floors, they’re not fixed to the subfloor with glue or nails, these laminate floors are just floating. Floating your flooring makes it a fast and easy installation process. As you will see for yourself in this video presentation. Floors expand and contract, all types of floors, including laminate floors. So Plan for expansion and contraction, if you don't, your laminate floor will buckle. Bring your laminate flooring inside the room ahead of time so that it can acclimate before installation. Make sure your subfloor floor is level without high spots or low spots. Sweep the subfloor clean before you begin laying down the underlayment. There are many different underlayment options on the market made out of different materials. Some underlayment materials are with noise reduction properties others are not, Some come with pre-attached adhesive strips and others don't, use one that best fits your type of floor and needs. We have two different teams, working on two different floating floor projects, you will notice different underlayment choices, and as far as tools, some floor installers like to use miter a saw, and others use a sheer to cut the boards. A sheer is much quicker in my opinion.
