Groundhog Day (movie, 1993)

Self-absorbed television weatherman Phil Connors arrives in the small town of Punxsutawney to film yet another routine report on Groundhog Day, which he considers a dull provincial formality. Together with producer Rita and cameraman Larry, he endures a long, irritating day among the festive crowd, but the next morning he discovers that the calendar once again shows February 2, the same song is playing on the radio, and every event repeats itself down to the smallest detail. Trapped in a time loop, Phil goes through confusion, cynicism, selfish games, and despair, until the endless repetition of a single day gradually becomes a chance for him to see the people around him differently. Harold Ramis’s fantasy comedy turns a simple idea of an impossible calendar glitch into a warm and witty parable about character, love, inner growth, and the ability to change one’s life even when, on the outside, nothing changes at all.
