ACA Howler Siren Test - Alert - Cologne, MN 3/3/21

For this nice and sunny first Wednesday of March, I ventured out to Cologne for this rare Howler, the last active unit in the United States. I first discovered this siren several years ago, but never got around to recording it until now. Michael learned that this would be replaced soon, so I figured I'd record it before it's too late. He and Zach joined me at the test, and I also met Holly (TheSirenGeek) for the first time. Carver County sent out DTMF shortly before 1PM, and the Howler fired up right on time. It wasn't the loudest siren I've heard, but it wasn't quiet either. You can also hear the 2001-130 off highway 212 nearby, there's actually a spot in the park where you can see it from! Cologne also has an Erick, although it was inaudible from where we were. Overall it was a very fun day, and I'm glad I got to here this siren before it goes. Carver County tests their sirens on the first Wednesday of the month at 1PM from March-October.
