How to repair a Samsung LS27D850T / LS27D85KTSNXU computer monitor

This worked perfectly and my monitor has sprung back to life. I hope this helps someone else to fix theirs. Obviously do not do this repair with the power still connected to the monitor and be careful when handling the boards as these can still retain a large charge in the capacitors so consider that while the circuit board should be safe to hold around the edge, any metal part of the board or tv body/mount could potentially discharge hundreds of volts even while unplugged. Wear rubber gloves, and make sure you understand how a multimeter works to check the components. I also suggest reading Kenn Amdahl "There are no electrons" if you want an easy read into electronics and a great understanding of how electricity flows. Kenn designed computers for IBM but has a teaching style that is hilarious at times and certainly about as engaging as you can get when it comes to understanding how a npn transistor works.
