After the mysterious death of his grandfather, sixteen-year-old Jacob Portman travels to a remote Welsh island where there was once a home for unusual children. Among the ruins of the old house, he unexpectedly finds not merely traces of the past, but a hidden time loop in which Miss Peregrine relives September 3, 1943, every day with her wards. Each of the children has a rare ability: one can control air, another is invisible, another is stronger than an ordinary person, but their wondrous world exists under constant threat from the Hollowgasts and the creatures hunting them. Jacob gradually realizes that his grandfather’s stories were true, and that his own place in this story is far more important than it seemed.
