Saturday Skate at Northam and York Skatepark with some Street Skating Too - Western Australia

We went for a chill Saturday skate, trying out the freshly installed rail and ledge at the local Northam skatepark in Western Australia. We also threw in some old footage at York skatepark and a street skate. Enjoy! Northam skatepark had been around since the early 2000s. When it first opened it was completely packed every day. Northam had a big skate culture mostly from High schoolers. Every day before school and after the skatepark would be packed with kids skating and hanging out. The skatepark had an old abandoned drama hall next to it that had a flat rectangle pad of cement out the front of it undercover. When it rained this undercover spot was used fr shelter and flat land skating. Many games of skate were won and lost under the thin cement. Eventually the drama hall was knocked down due to vandalism. Over the years skateboarding became less and less popular in Northam and the skatepark became more of a hang out skatepark for the remaining skaters, bmx and scooter riders. For the most part we all used the skatepark harmoniously. Many videos have been filmed at the skatepark, hundreds of thousands of tricks landed and hundreds of thousands more stacked. The skatepark wasn’t the best, it was moveable ramps but it worked for us, even if we all did complain about it. We tried for years to get a new skatepark for Northam and now that we have it’s sad to see the old skatepark ramps taken away. All is left is an empty pad and who knows what the lands future will hold.
