After so many years of trying to establish contacts to the operators of the legendary AN-12, I managed to persuade merlintour to repeat the successful Aviation Tour of 2008, six years later in June, 2014 onboard Ruby Star’s AN-12, not knowing that I initiated a Gold Rush for Avgeeks for the years to come, laying the grounds for an unbelievable success story in the history of Aviation Tours. In 2014, we were just a small Group of Avgeeks looking for something special. We were not looking for sightseeing flights circling around a single airport, but we wanted to visit different places and do some field photography and spotting, travelling in style. Belarus proved to be the Number One Aviation Heaven, with Boris Vlassov – The Managing Director of merlintour - pulling the strings, making the impossible possible. This video features the second flight of a Triangle routing, taking us in 37 minutes^^ from the old City Airport, Minsk-1 to Mogilev in the East of Belarus, onboard Ruby Star’s legendary AN-12, EW-275TI. Minsk-1, the “Tempelhof of Minsk”, was located just a few kilometres South from the City Center and was eventually shut down on December 23, 2015 after 82 years of Belarusian Aviation History.
