In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver&view on Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) between Graz and the Austrian capital Vienna (Wien) via the Pottendorfer line in 4K/60 frames per second. One of the busiest railway routes in Austria, it takes us from Graz, the second-largest city to the capital city of Vienna on the route of the historic southern railway mainline (Südbahn) completed in 1854 between Vienna and Graz, stretching further to Ljubljana (Laibach) in Slovenia and Zagreb (Agram) in Croatia. A two-and-a-half-hour journey from Graz to Vienna leads us along the river Mur valley to the major railway junction of Bruck an der Mur. Following the river Mürz the journey leads us up and across the Semmering mountain pass along UNESCO World Heritage Semmering railway (Semmeringbahn). Built in the mid-19th century and made up of 26 miles (41 km) of tunnels and viaducts, it represents one the most impressive feats of civil engineering in the era of early railway construction. In the last part of the journey, from Wiener Neustadt Hbf to Vienna we pass along the Pottendorfer line. A major upgrade of the line is happening, with a new Semmering Base Tunnel (basis tunnel) being built to replace the winding Semmering railway with the 27,3 kilometre tunnel, capable of speeds up to 250km/h, that when completed in 2030, will reduce the travel time between Mürzzuschlag and Gloggnitz from 45 minutes today to just 15 minutes, also bringing down the journey between Vienna...
