Scorpion Repellent Sound Scorpions are a group of animals with eight legs (octopods) belonging to the order Scorpiones in the class Arachnida. Scorpions are still related to ketonggeng, spiders, mites, and ticks. There are about 2000 types of scorpions. They are mostly found south of 49° N, with the exception of New Zealand and Antarctica. The body of a scorpion is divided into two segments: the cephalothorax and the abdomen. The abdomen consists of mesosomes and metasoma. Arachnoidea All scorpion species have poison. In general, scorpion venom is included as a neurotoxin (nerve poison). An exception is Hemiscorpius lepturus which has cytotoxic venom (cell poison). Neurotoxins consist of small proteins as well as sodium and potassium, which are useful for interfering with the victim&nerve transmission. Scorpions use their venom to kill or immobilize their prey for easy eating.
