BMW F800GT test ride and review. Launched in 2013, the BMW F800GT is a light sport-tourer equipped with a parallel-twin 800 cm3 engine. It is the smallest of BMW's line of sport-tourers, but it is not less competent than it's bigger sisters. The engine - developed jointly by BMW and Rotax - develops 90 HP and is pleasantly torquey; however, it vibrates significantly above 5,500 RPM, and it has a «hollow» sound that may turn off quite a few prospective buyers. It has a belt drive, and a single-arm rear suspension. This is quite a versatile motorcycle - particularly when equipped with the well-finished BMW touring cases (capacity: 55 liters) and top case. As of November 2016 the F800GT has a base price of USD 12,095 in the United States (including ABS). It is available in three colors - black, blue and white. Highlights: Comfortable ride (except vibrations from engine at higher regimes), torque range, stability, ergonomics, versatility Lowlights: Engine vibration at higher regimes, uninspiring noise, kickstand (oddly positioned, difficult to reach with foot if bike is equipped with central stand too).
