How to set up real sidechaining in Cubase AI LE

Аватар автора
This is a tutorial about how to make real sidechaining work in Cubase AI LE and maybe any other DAW which doesn't support it natively. Here is a quick summary of the steps: Preparation: download the free plugin MChannelMatrix from MeldaProduction: 1. double up the source signal (kickdrum) and pan it to the right hand side: a) create a new stereo bus (group or FX track) b) send the source signal to the new bus c) pan it to the right hand side 2. combine the source (kick) with the destination (bass) a) create a new stereo bus (group track) b) send the signal from step 1 (kick) to the new bus via routing c) convert the destination track (bass) to mono if necessary d) pan it to the left hand side and route it to the new group track 3. apply the compressor or any other plugin which reacts to volume Tip: experiment with a gate plugin! 4. cut off the source from the combined signal a) apply the MChannelMatrix plugin and switch it to play the destination (bass) on both channels b) if desired apply a stereo widener plugin Enjoy! 👍 😊
