Second part of two, covering programming and serial protocol … ↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓ In part one (link below) we successfully transmitted a 10MHz square wave over 20m of Cat 3 twisted pair cable via RS-422. So it’s high time to actually send some real data via our RS-422 link. And of course we do that with our trusty Arduinos. We start with a short look at signal delays, before writing code for our first Arduino to connect the serial monitor to the RS-422 interface. After a dive into the serial protocol and UART/UASRT, the second Arduino is set up as a RS-422 repeater. 00:00 Intro – what changed on the bench 02:20 Signal delays –in the lines and chips 04:09 Arduino transceiver –serial monitor to RS-422 and back 08:32 Asynchronous serial –bits and bytes, UART and USART, library 16:03 Arduino repeater – just sending out again what was received 20:30 Wrap-up – asynchronous serial not only for RS-422, bye #robertssmorgasbord
