Here I change the tone of a single cut double Humbucker pickup guitar by switching magnets. I change ceramic magnets to alnico 5 magnets and compare the sound with before and after video. The bridge pickup is an 8.57k and the neck pickup is 7.96k. The bridge is a locking TonePro, and the tuning keys are Guitar Fetish Locking Tuners. The strings are Ernie Ball Hybrid Super Slinkys. The amplifier is a Fender Mustang I. You can see a purple, white or red pick on the amp when it is the ceramic magnets. I add a green pick on the amp whenever it is the alnico 5 magnets. I toggle through the three pickup combinations on the guitar. There is a green pick with the purple pick when it is the alnico 5 magnets with the amp first set to the 57 Deluxe. The white pick (ceramic), and white and green picks (alnico 5) have the amp set at British 60s for a clean tone. The red pick (ceramic) and green and red picks (alnico 5) are for the British 80s amp setting with some gain. Other than being quieter, I did not notice a huge difference in tone between the ceramic and alnico magnets. There is a little bit of the harsh edge off, which is what I was trying to accomplish. I will wait a few days and let the magnets settle into their correct magnetic field for the pickups. I will do a follow-up video if later on they sound any better. If the pickups do not sound a lot less harsh, I will order alnico 2 magnets and try again since this is such any easy upgrade. Let me know in the...
