Perfect Aire Dehumidifier Problems

I need help troubleshooting Perfect Aire dehumidifier problems. They have a history of losing all the refrigerant after six months or a year of use. If there’s no refrigerant, the coil won’t cool down. Yes, and if there’s no refrigerant, you have a glorified air filter and fan. I already have air filtration units. Where do you get more refrigerant? Refrigerant is restricted by the EPA, and only licensed people for HVAC or appliance repair can use it. Since there are not as many people who repair dehumidifiers as fridges, you’re often stuck shipping the dehumidifier to an authorized repair center. To fix it or add refrigerant? Something had to break for the refrigerant to get out, whether a rusted connection or leaking valve, I do not know. And yes, you usually have to ship it for any repair you cannot do yourself. I’m only mailing a dehumidifier if they pay for the shipping. Perfect Aire may or may not pay for the shipping under warranty if it is almost new, but usually, shipping of the unit to and from the repair center is your problem. Then it takes one trip to the curb, and I take a trip to the store for a new one. One strength of Perfect Aire brand dehumidifiers is that they handle automatic continuous drainage better, without the leaks from the connectors and hoses to the sink.
