These devices include popular voltage converters on switched capacitors, which generate several voltages from a single source. An example of one of them is ICL7660 integrated circuit. The operating principle of the integrated circuit is the ideal inverter mode. With the closure of the keys S1, S3 and opening of S2, S4, the first half cycle charges the external capacitor C1 from the source up to the supply voltage. With the closure of S2, S4 keys and opening of S1, S3 in the 2nd half cycle the C1 capacitor&charge is partially transferred to the capacitor C2, which provides a negative voltage at the output of the integrated circuit. The power supply voltage is in the range of 1.5 to 12V. The output voltage range is from - 1.5V to -12V. The output current depends on the resistance in the load.
