Daft Punk's Something About Us (Roland VP-9000+DAWless)

This is replica of Daft Punk's Something About Us. All is played and recorded by me, Roger Mooze, without the use of a computer (DAWLESS as how it's called nowadays). I tried to make a replica of this song due to the fact that the Roland VP-9000 Variphrase Processor is used in the original song and I attempted to come as close as possible to know how Daft Punk did it. The sequencer used in this replica is the Roland MC-50, a hardware sequencer from 1990 which is still (now 2018!!) a unit what can serve for several kinds of music. I really love this one and it is the core of my setup. All the synths and sound modules produce their own 'bread and butter'-sounds. No sound creation is done. The Yamaha DX-100 doesn't have velocity of itself, only when you play it by an external keyboard. The Roland JV-1010 is equipped with a SR-JV card (Vintage Synths) and patch number 85 is used. This patch is velocity sensitive regarding the resonance. In the video you see screenshots of the Roland Sampler, S-330. I've loaded Director-S sequencer software to create visibility of the played tracks. The drums are done with the Roland TR-8 with the TR-707 Sound pack. All credits go to Daft Punk for creating this song and making people happy with their music. My intention was purely educational. For more info about projects I am working on check my website. or mail me at: Thanks for watching and keep on grooving! Roger
