Chór Warsa (The Wars’ Choir) with Piano acc. by Henryk Wars – Marynarze (The Sailors; aka Adios Muchachos) Tango (J. Sanders – Stach) Syrena-Electro 1931 (Polish) NOTE: Chór Warsa (aka The Henryk Wars’ Choir; The Wars’ Choir; The Jolly Fellows of Columbia) – Polish male vocal quartet (in Polish called the „choir”) founded in the turn of 1930/31 by the renowned composer, jazz pianist and dance bandleader Henryk Wars. The Choir consisted of Stefan Sas-Jaworski – tenor; Adam Aston – baritone; Tadeusz Faliszewski – tenor/baritone and Aleksander Puchalski – bass. The Wars’ Choir – which included two already famous Polish crooners Adam Aston & Tadeusz Faliszewski - immediately became a serious competition to the most popular Polish revelers: Chór Dana. However, while Chór Dana followed the artistic genre which had been earlier paved by the German revelers Comedian Harmonists, Chór Warsa followed the more jazzy style of the Mills Brothers. Besides recording many sides for Syrena-Electro and Columbia - where they were labeled as Weseli Chłopcy z Columbii [The Jolly Fellows of Columbia] - Chór Warsa also performed in the shows in Morskie Oko and Hollywood revue theatres and appeared in the movies. Despite its very successful onset and highly praised by the critics for superb artistic quality, Chór Warsa disbanded in 1933, due to the rising obligations of Tadeusz Faliszewski and Adam Aston, who continued their solo careers.
