X-COM Interceptor is 4th installment in the series and was very controversial. A lot of fans, used to X-COM being a tactical strategy game, disliked the fourth installment being a space flight simulator, and, considering medicore quality of the simulation itself, it wasn&one of the best out there. Game suffered from bugs, a big chunk of battle outcome being based on how your wingmen preform (you have very little control over them), so it was too random, the quality of simulation was not very good, and a lot of tactical depth from previous games in the series was lost. Still, game was actually somewhat interesting, combining "strategy" with "action", where you had to both plan your advancement and execute it. Also, the storyline is GREAT and it really makes you wonder and investigate what&going on with those carriers dumping something into the black hole, and makes you tremble when you discover what they are really after. Game music, especially the battle, is actually pretty nice, and contributes to the game atmosphere very well. There are three different "Tracks" or "Themes", each theme consisting of three "modes": - peaceful (when you completed the mission) - threatening (when enemy is not in range but lurks around) - aggressive (when you are engaged in a dogfight). Each "mode" consists of five variations, which loop around in a preset order, but they change on the fly (when you enter combat, you start at threatening, when you enter weapons range, music changes to...
