Carolina Shout by James P. Johnson, played by Rolf Wahl Olsen on Kawai CS7. Carolina Shout is considered one of the defining compositions of the stride style, of which James P. Johnson was a pioneer. Thanks to its great popularity and technical challenges it quickly became a &piece&played in piano competitions during the 1920&and 1930&in New York and other East Coast cities. Johnson grew up listening to Scott Joplin&ragtimes and became one of the most important pianists to bridge the ragtime and jazz eras. He was a teacher and mentor to Fats Waller who later become one of the greatest ever jazz musicians himself.
