Do you know the story of Badfinger? They were the first band signed to Apple records other than the Beatles, in 1968. Their first single "Come and Get It" was written and produced by Paul McCartney, and this song "Day After Day" was produced by George Harrison in 1971. George also played the slide parts, very much in his signature sound and style. Badfinger was one of the earliest purveyors of power pop and their catalog has a bunch of brilliant songs, most notably "No Matter What", "Baby Blue", and "Without You" as well as this one. Tragically, Pete Ham committed suicide leaving behind a pregnant wife and child at the age of 27 in the aftermath of questionable financial dealings by their business manager. Eight years later, Tom Evans did the same. Bummer, I know. I guess this is my little tribute to Badfinger, who knows what kind of amazing music we missed out on. I used a Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul and Explorer, Fender Custom Shop 1960 Strat, Seagull Coastline 12 string, 1957 Gibson J-45, and a 1972 Fender Precision Bass. All the electric guitars were played through a 1965 Fender Bassman and tracked through the Boss Waza Tuba Amp Expander. Effects used were a Union Tube and Transistor Snap and Lab, Fender Tre-verb, and an Ebow. Thanks for watching, I&trying to upload a new cover every Friday. Hit subscribe if you like what you hear!
