Observations March 2020 – Romanov has struggled to get ice time playing for a stacked team in CSKA Moskow, having averaged 12:53 in ice time during his 43 KHL games this season. CSKA is heavy favorites going into their first-round matchup against Torpedo. He also helped Team Russia to a silver medal in the 2020 World Junior Championships with 6 points in 8 games. Romanov is expected to start next season in Montreal. His smooth skating and offensive instinct should allow him to rise quickly on the Canadiens defense chart as the Canadiens lack someone with his skill set and have a very weak left side.
