How to disassemble the HP 17-s017cl expand for SSD Instructions Here&a readable about how to do the SSD upgrade with only one drive bay in the laptop.. 1. Use your desktop and disconnect the main boot drive (SATA) 2. Attach the laptop HHD to the SATA port 1 3. Attach the new blank SSD to a SATA port 2 4. Insert the Samsung Utility disk into your DVD/CDROM bay on the desktop 5. Boot the desktop with the laptop drive attached as the boot drive (go to BIOS and force it if necessary) 6. Install the Samsung Migration application on the running Laptop Windows HHD (if you try to short circuit this, it you&experience the "Can&change source disk issue..." and there¬ much on the internet in the way of telling you that it&a protection mechanism that only allows you to copy the source drive with OS to a Samsung SSD one time... hence, you need to boot from the laptop HHD temporarily attached to your desktop computer. You are forced to go this route because there&only one bay available -- unless you have that nice USB to SATA adaptor that is shown on the insert of the Samsung User manual... if you have that.. use it directly with your laptop. 7. Begin the data migration from HHD to SSD (took about an hour on my 500G) 8. Reverse engineer .. remove the Laptop HHD and SSD (mount the SSD into the laptop and boot up) 9. Restore the original drive in the desktop and boot up. And that&how you can upgrade a single bay laptop HHD to SSD.
