========== The 2017 American Professional Precision from Fender is today’s version of the seminal classic. A revolutionary instrument when it was released in 1951, the Precision allowed bassists to be heard and play precisely in tune. This year’s model comes in four- and five-string versions with some welcome upgrades to the Precision’s peerless pedigree. Starting with the way it plays, the first thing you’ll notice is that the new Precision of the American Professional series comes with a “golden” ‘63 P neck profile that’s considered to be one of Fender’s most comfortable. The 9.5-inch fretboard radius feels familiar, but medium-jumbo frets of the past are now replaced with narrow-tall frets. These frets provide excellent playing feel and perfect intonation. There’s a choice of rosewood or maple fretboard and a genuine bone nut on every model. The electronics have been upgraded and the American Professional Precision comes with the brand-new V-Mod split-coil Precision Bass pickup developed by Michael Bump, the longtime bass pickup master. The design uses a carefully selected blend of alnico magnets for balanced authentic Fender tone. The hardware wasn’t neglected and each Precision retains the four-bolt, micro-tilt neck joint that makes adjustment of your action so easy.
