DANIELA RIPETTI PACCHINI - VOCALISE: THE SONG OF ORPHEUS. (Eng-Ita) MUSIC: "Vocalise" rearranged for violin and played by the classical violinist DAVID GARRETT (Classic Romance). This touching piece was composed by the Romantic composer, fine pianist and conductor SERGEI RACHMANINOFF (1873- 1943). POETRY: "The song of Orpheus (Orpheus & Eurydice) is from my miscellany of poems "Poesia-Phoenix", Transeuropa 2022. Poetic fragments from "Orpheus, Eurydice, Hermes" ("New Poems" 1907-1908) & "Sonnets to Orpheus" (1922) by RAINER MARIA RILKE . (La descrizione del video in Italiano segue quella in Inglese)*. The main theme of my video is the figure of the artist and the relationship between art and life in the era of disenchantment. This theme is narrated through some emblematic figures such as THE LADY OF SHALOTT (and her mirror)1), ORPHEUS and EURYDICE, with an indirect fleeting initial reference to Prospero, the protagonist of Shakespeare&"The Tempest" (and perhaps alter-ego of Shakespeare himself). The artist, &and disillusioned, is reborn, like a Phoenix, from his own ashes. "Sentenced not to die" (D.R.P.) and driven by an ineffable fate or &(as also written by Franco Rella), the artist can help singing, saying, allegorizing, making art. Orpheus, the artist par excellence, poet, musician, but also superhuman, though &God&and dismembered, continues to sing and call Eurydice, the &(as Rilke calls her) of the unspeakable speakable.
