It&been three years since the Volkswagen Atlas took off into the full three-line crossover SUV scene, but it&still getting a full face lift. VW claims this is the first example of its new policy of shortening its standard four-year renewal cadence, but this nose job is not purely for arrogance. It also brings increased pedestrian protection to the bumper structure which adds to the overall length by about 3 inches. Of course, as in all the repetition it looks like, the new look especially on the sporty R-Line trim is shown to strive for a more aggressive mien than before, with black accented outboard fascial vents and a fake front skidplate looking ready to push the racer off. Bonneville&speed record (it&only set up to gently push pedestrians away). The side cladding and rear bumper were also revised and macho to match the design of the new wheels, which are 18, 20, or 21 inches in diameter. Inside is a new steering wheel emblazoned with the new Volkswagen logo, and that includes the infotainment and driver assistance buttons. Beautiful new double stitch leather upholstery available in several new color combinations. A new 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the base S model, and wireless smartphone charging is now offered. The updated Car-Net mobile app now includes five years of free service, and VW offers a variety of 4G LTE data connection plans to feed onboard Wi-Fi hotspots.
