Touareg Diagnosis of Key Stuck in Ingnition and Move Selector Lever To Position P Park

Finally found what causes key not to be released from the barrel. there is a microswitch on the front of the shifter assembly which is either worn, or the shift mech is worn, causing poor contact. you can bend the contact or failing that bypass the switch altogether. however if you bypass it you&need to key on/off directly after turning the engine off to release the key.
