To open Command Prompt windows from Windows 10 installation media when BSOD error or PC not booting. To fix your computer not booting, you need to configure boot files on your PC. It depends on whether your PC is single-boot or dual-boot or multi-boot, i.e 1 OS like Windows 10 only or multiple OS like Windows 10 and 8.1 and 7. The error code "0xc0000428" with the message that the file "Windowssystem32winload.exe" is missing says different from the error message displayed. If you have multiple hard drives and partitions, then you need to have atleast one partition on one drive as boot, active. This is generally the primary partition or the first partition on the drive. Then you need to copy each command below and paste in Command Prompt Window to make your boot partition active and copy each command below and press enter. Enter the following commands. diskpart list disk select disk (#) list partition select partition (#) active where # indicates the number. You might have multiple disks and partitions. Finally your boot partition will become active. Then enter the following command to copy boot files from your Windows directory to the required boot partition on the same drive or another drive. bcdboot C:Windows /s S: where S is the system or boot partition on the same drive or second drive.
