Wisconsin man charged in Delta County sexual assault cold case decades after crime DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan State Police announced Friday that a Wisconsin man has been criminally charged with kidnapping and sexual assault 39 years after the crime occurred in Delta County. However, the suspect died before he could be arrested and appear in court for arraignment. In a Friday press release announcing the charges, the Michigan State Police said the Manistique Post originally began investigating the case in 1986, after a woman reported she was assaulted while taking a bike trip from her home in Lac du Flambeau, Wis. to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Police say the woman stopped to use a public bathroom at the Big Fishdam River access off US-2 in Garden Township. When she left the bathroom, she was forced at gunpoint into the suspect’s car. He drove her around and repeatedly sexually assaulted her, eventually releasing her.
