I knew my 3:29 could be improved, but I didn&really have any motivation to try to. I was far ahead of the competition at that point in time, and I wanted to move on to other speedgames after achieving the milestone. However, eventually, people started playing Vol.1 again at a high level, namely Motorjam and MarioMario7892, and I felt that I needed to improve my time in order to defend my crown. My speedrunning mentality had changed greatly since I first got the 3:29, and I knew that I could improve the time by growing a pair and continuing to play at a high level and go for hard strats even if I was immensely ahead. This all came to a head on the 28th of September 2020, when I entered level 14 on amazing pace. If I got the cart skip and an amazing boss, I could have conceivably gotten a 3:24. The cart skip was risky, and I could&gotten WR without it, but I went for it anyways. I messed it up and died. I killed the run because I learned how to take more risks. I was upset, but not devastated, because I knew that I had made the right decision in going for the cart skip. I later improved my 3:29 with a 3:27 on the 6th of October, 2020. It wasn&as stellar as the potential 3:24, but I was happy with the result and glad that I had improved the record. With the record feeling more secure, I decided to move on to other speedgames once again.
