Computational Fluid Dynamics Lecture 1, part 3, gives an overview of the six steps of the CFD process. This is the second lecture of an 8 lecture short-course on computational fluid dynamics authored by Dr Bart Hallmark from the University of Cambridge. The course of 8 lectures has two aims: (i) give an overview of how to do CFD simulations and the pitfalls to avoid and (ii) give enough theory to understand the various controls and options within a simulation package. The theory topics include discretisation of partial differential equations using finite differences; converting partial differential equations into a system of linear algebraic equations; discretisation methods including upwinding; an introduction to the numerical solution to the Navier Stokes Equations and an introduction to turbulence.
