Penetration Test of Bitumen

The penetration test measures the hardness and softness of the bitumen. The harder the the lower the penetration value and vice versa. In this test, a penetrometer is used. It applies the needle with a load of 100-gram into the bitumen surface for 5 seconds. Grading bitumen with this test helps to use the proper bitumen for expected weather.
