One of my professors showed us the original version of this video a couple days ago and I noticed that out of the roughly 17 people featured, only 3 were female, so I decided to make my own version, highlighting powerful and inspirational women who revolutionized our world, even in unforgiving social conditions. Here’s to the strong women before us, who changed the world because they were crazy enough to think they could. See how many you can guess! In order of appearance: Grace Hopper- inventor of the first compiler and mother of the first programming language Hedy Lamarr- inventor of signal hopping (which is why you can use Wi-Fi today) Katherine Switzer- first woman to run in the Boston Marathon Amelia Earhart- first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean Rachel Carson- championed pesticides with her book “Silent Spring,” which exposed their environmental impacts Jane Goodall- observed and interacted with chimpanzees, making ground-breaking discoveries about their behavior Katherine Johnson- perfected complicated calculations for NASA, helping Apollo 11 land on the moon Princess Diana- supported philanthropic organizations that helped homeless people, drug addicts, and elderly Hillary Clinton- first woman to be a US presidential candidate Footage of suffragette marches Ruby Bridges- first African-American child to integrate a white elementary school Frida Kahlo- created introspective art to comprehend her nationality Stephanie Kwolek- created kevlar (which is...
