Ferdinando Carulli&Op.241 École de guitare (Guitar School) is one of the most important and useful classical guitar method books of all time. Carulli&Op.241 is very well organized, and jumps quickly from simple note reading studies to beautiful melodic and harmonic studies, such as the one featured in this video. Many of the short etudes featured in Carulli&Op.241 are numbered. This study, however, is unnumbered! Therefore, I have decided to simply title it "Andante in D Major", based on the key and tempo marking. Depending on the edition you&reading, this piece can be found at the beginning of Part II, or Chapter 8. This etude can also be found in the popular Bridges - Guitar Repertoire and Etudes - Level 5 edition (Study No.3). Carulli&Andante in D Major is great for early intermediate classical guitarists. The study is full of slurs (hammer-ons and pull-offs), beautiful single line melodic phrasing, staccato chords. The exciting B section (in A major) concludes with a dramatic series of cadences before concluding with the final A section repeat. I highly recommend this Carulli etude to any student who wants to work on their slurs in the key of D major! Thanks for watching, listening, and subscribing!
