&Green Grass of Home&was written by Claude &Putnam, Jr. Though it had already been recorded by several artists, it was when Tom Jones released it as a single (Decca F 22511, with &Her Anything&on the B side) on 28th October 1966 that it became a worldwide number one hit. Different versions by many singers have been released since then. Sir Tom has carried on singing the song in his live performances. No copyright infringement intended. I just thought this would be a great way to practise some English.
