The lyrics to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" came from a poem "The Star" written by an English poet, Jane Taylor (1783-1824), and published in 1806. The tune is an old French melody "Ah! Vous Dirai-Je, Maman!" (Shall I Tell You, Mother?), first appear without words attributed to M. Bouin in Paris in 1761, but there is no evidence that he personally wrote the music. Some scholars have suggested that the tune might be as old as 1740. Around 20 years later, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) popularized the tune by composing a set of 12 variations based on "Ah! Vous Dirai-Je, Maman!" for piano. So, Mozart didn&wrote the original melody and the writer reminds anonymous until now. The Alphabet Song or the ABC Song using the same tune dates from 1835, also "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep", an English nursery rhyme dates from 1744 (or 1731?), which set to the tune in 1879. ★ Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is an easy song to cover with kalimba 0:00 Number notations 1:24 Letter notations 2:42 Credit title ★ NOTATION READING TIPS FOR BEGINNERS: Start with the easy way by playing the melody notes alone. ★ Printable sheet music: ★ Support Sher&Kalimba : ★ Connect with Sher&Kalimba at ★ #sherskalimba
