The Lancer is quite a bit pricier, as they stopped at the tenth generation in 2015. Subaru and its Subaru-blue WRX’s are still selling new (there’s actually one new Evo with 64 miles on it in Canada selling for $120,000), but just because they outlasted them, does that make them a better buy? The Evo is hands down one of the best Rally cars of all time and has the trophies to prove it. Can you really argue with results? We’ll even talk about things like sound. Lancer Evos have that clean sounding steady low-rumble. Subaru’s sound like they’re always clearing their throats, drawing more attention. In the last few years, the sport compact segment has had some interesting new major players, like the Honda Civic Type R, the surprising Ford Focus RS, and Hyundai’s three-doored Veloster N. Although we often hope Mitsubishi goes back to its rally car making ways, the Lancer Evo is still as talked about today as it was when it was in production just 7 years ago.
