AKG P220

Priced at 148.00 EUR, the AKG Perception 220 is an outstanding microphone. A large membrane condenser microphone, the P220 incorporates a number of features and sound quality often found in much more expensive models. Tone quality is crystal clear and highly sensitive, but a tight cardioid pattern keeps things in check, only picking up sound directly in front of the 1-inch diaphragm. The P220 features both a bass roll off switch and -20db preattenuation pad. As a point of comparison, I&recorded the vocals from the AKG exactly as I did with the Audio Technica AT2020 microphone which I reviewed last week.
